First Snow Day
We had our first real snow of the 2008/09 winter yesterday...and the 1st Snow Day at school. I didn't even mind being called at 4:45 am by the Assistant Principal to tell me school had been cancelled for the day! I was so happy - it took a while to fall back to sleep!
Keith won the wager...he said we'd have snow by the end of the month. He was right!
Thanksgiving is next week. I'm looking forward to a week off from school. Time to go shoot bambi! Pap says the deer are safe when I'm in the woods with my rifle - so all you bambi-lovers...don't worry. I'll probably miss - I always do!
Shae killed her first squirrel a couple of weeks ago. (I missed...) Can't say as I am too upset - 'cause if I had killed a squirrel - I would have had to eat it. Those are the rules!
We're having a fund raiser for the church next Monday and Tuesday. Cornbread, beans, chili and potato soup for the hunters. You can have my beans - I'll be on a liquid diet cause it looks like I might be having my gall bladder removed on Tuesday. The hospital called today - I had another test on Monday...still don't know if the gall bladder is a goner or not - still waiting for test results.

Mountain Fury
We attended a Bluegrass concert last night in Flatwoods sponsored by the Bluegrass Preservation Society of Sutton. There were 3 bands: Whittaker Station, Mountain Fury, and The Vaughns.
My favorite of the evening was by far, Mountain Fury. This quartet of ladies put on a set of bluegrass music and witty banter which entertained the crowd for about an hour. I had a couple of classes at Glenville State College with two of the ladies (not that they would remember me) and Shae had the opportunity to work with Rachel when she subbed for the director of LC Blue last year.
Pap and Grandma love Bluegrass music - so they have seen Mountain Fury several times. It was our first time - and we certainly loved it. Bought a CD! If you want more info about this local talent - they have a webpage on MySpace. Go to: www.myspace.com/mountainfury
